Title: Suicide and the Elderly; Warning Signs & Intervention Strategies
Description: Depression is often not recognized in the elderly. With many symptoms incorrectly attributed to aging, older adults commonly are left untreated for depression and other mental health disorders. The strong relationship between depression and suicide increases risk factors for suicide especially among the elderly. The increase in suicide attempts and actual suicides continues to climb for the elderly. This course will highlight suicide risk factors in the elderly and introduce prevention and treatment strategies.
