Continuing education program presented by Benjamin Rose Institute on Aging in collaboration with the Art Therapy Studio.
Successful aging is marked by active engagement in life. Expressive arts—including visual arts, dance/movement, writing, poetry—are empowering tools that can assist the aging process, stimulate latent creativity, and serve as therapeutic interventions for those afflicted with chronic disease. This conference explores the dynamic power and healing potential of the expressive arts for older adults. It emphasizes the value of the creative process, explains how to assist individuals in tapping into and expressing their imagination and creativity, and illustrates how the expressive arts can promote self-actualization, social connection, and psychological and physiological healing in a variety of settings.
